Publication Ethics

International Journal of Advanced Academic (IJAA) - Publication Ethics

The International Journal of Advanced Academic (IJAA) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. All authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers involved in the publication process are expected to adhere to the following ethical guidelines:

1. Authorship and Contribution:

  • Authorship Criteria: Only individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research should be listed as authors. All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be acknowledged appropriately.
  • Corresponding Author: The corresponding author must ensure that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and have agreed to its submission for publication.
  • Changes in Authorship: Any changes in authorship (addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names) must be approved by all authors and communicated to the editorial office with a clear explanation.

2. Originality and Plagiarism:

  • Original Work: Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and has not been published elsewhere. If the work involves the use of others' works, these must be appropriately cited or quoted.
  • Plagiarism: Plagiarism in all its forms constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism over 20% will be rejected or retracted.

3. Data Integrity:

  • Accuracy of Data: Authors must present an accurate account of the research performed and an objective discussion of its significance. Data should be represented accurately, and any fabrication or falsification of data is strictly prohibited.
  • Data Availability: Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a manuscript for editorial review and should be prepared to make the data publicly available if possible.

4. Ethical Oversight:

  • Human and Animal Rights: Authors must ensure that the research involving human subjects or animals complies with all relevant ethical guidelines and has been approved by the appropriate institutional review board or ethics committee.
  • Informed Consent: Authors should obtain informed consent from all human participants and ensure their privacy is protected.

5. Conflict of Interest:

  • Disclosure: Authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could affect the integrity of the research and publication process.
  • Financial Support: All sources of financial support for the research must be disclosed in the manuscript.

6. Peer Review Process:

  • Confidentiality: Manuscripts submitted for review must be treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose any information regarding the manuscript to anyone other than the editorial team.
  • Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with clear and constructive feedback provided to the authors.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers should identify any relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and alert the editors to any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper.

7. Editorial Responsibilities:

  • Decision-Making: Editors are responsible for making publication decisions based on the manuscript's quality and relevance to the journal's scope. Decisions should be based on the merits of the work and without bias.
  • Fair Play: Editors should evaluate manuscripts without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  • Handling Misconduct: Editors must take reasonable steps to identify and prevent the publication of papers where research misconduct has occurred. If misconduct is suspected, they should follow COPE guidelines for dealing with allegations.

8. Retraction and Corrections:

  • Corrections: Authors are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor if they discover a significant error in their published work. Corrections or retractions will be issued as necessary to maintain the integrity of the academic record.
  • Retractions: In cases of serious errors or misconduct, the journal will issue retractions or expressions of concern as appropriate.

By adhering to these ethical guidelines, the International Journal of Advanced Academic aims to ensure the integrity, quality, and transparency of the research it publishes. All parties involved in the publication process share the responsibility to uphold these standards and contribute to the advancement of academic knowledge.
